Bringing Brandon home to Arizona was one of the hardest and most heartwarming moments of my life
Brandon Ellwanger was only 23 years old when he was tragically struck and killed by a speeding car in Riverside. Brandon was an amazing young man pursuing a career in the construction industry and was an avid drummer who played with the worship team at Calimesa Community Church.
Brandon’s family reached out to us and asked to help bring them justice. It’s never emotionally easy to deal with a wrongful death case, but when it involves someone so young with their entire life in front of them, it makes it that much sadder.
The family lived in Lake Havasu, AZ, and couldn’t afford to have his remains returned to them, so I offered to bring them myself. I will never forget the day I delivered Brandon’s remains to his mother and family. It absolutely broke my heart to see Brandon’s mother reunited with her son in that way, but as heartbreaking as that day was, it reinforced my belief in the calling I have to be there for people at their worst times and do anything and everything I can to make it a little easier for them.
