SALINAS (April 16, 2019) – A 39-year-old Salinas man died on Tuesday, April 9th, after his car was rear-ended on Reservoir Road, just west of Salinas.
Authorities have identified Tyrone Burton as the victim that was fatally injured in the crash.
He was driving a Pontiac Grand-Am east on Reservoir Road, east of Blanco Road, in front of a Chevrolet Silverado driven by Morgan Taylor Boutonnet, 25, also of Salinas. Burton was approaching Inter-Garrison Road and began to slow down to take a turn when he was rear-ended by the Silverado driven by Boutonnet.
The impact pushed the Grand-Am into oncoming lanes.
Burton was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Boutonnet was taken to Natividad Medical Center with unspecified injuries.
Crash Investigation and Liability
Authorities will continue to investigate the crash in discovery of the circumstances leading up to the crash.
Although the investigation is still ongoing, the family of Tyrone Burton will have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim. The family members suffering a loss may be entitled to recovery for funeral costs, loss of future income, and loss of companionship.
