Bicyclist Seriously Injured in Smith River Crash on Highway 101
DEL NORTE COUNTY (February 27, 2019) – According to California Highway Patrol dispatch team, a bicyclist was seriously injured after a traffic collision along Highway 101 on Tuesday evening.
The accident took place on February 26 at approximately 7:15 p.m. near Morrison Creek.
CHP received a call about a bicyclist who was struck for an unknown reason by a vehicle on Highway 101 near Morrison Creek Road.
Bicycle Rider Hit by Car Near Morrison Creek, Feb 26
Paramedics responded to the scene and attended to the rider who suffered major injuries as a result of the crash. The patient was then transported to the hospital for further treatment.
The name and condition of the cyclist at this time remained unknown. Meanwhile, CHP did not specify whether or not the driver of the car involved stopped after hitting the rider.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the incident.
