CONCORD PRECINCTS, Ill. (June 20, 2019) – Three people were fatally injured in a car crash on Sunday, June 16th, along Concord-Arenzville Road.
Authorities have identified the drivers that died in the collision as Sara Johnson, 58, of Jacksonville, and Kham Cung, 47, of Beardstown. Thal Kian Lo, 35, of Beardstown, who was a passenger in Cung’s vehicle, also died at the scene.
According to preliminary reports, the accident took place at approximately about 5:30 p.m. at Base Line Road. No other information regarding the cause of the accident has been released. Illinois State Police is conducting a thorough investigating.
Due to the catastrophic crash, emergency personnel had to extricate all three victims from the mangled vehicles.
A news report in The Chinlung Post state that Cung and Lo were native to the Sagaing Division of Myanmar, a Southeast Asia nation of 53 million people.
Fatal Crash Investigation
A forensic examination of the two vehicles involved, as well as photos that were taken of the scene, will help investigators determine which party ultimately caused the accident. Authorities will thoroughly look into how fast each driver was going, whether or not alcohol or drugs were involved, whether or not there were any mechanical issues with any of the involved vehicles. The investigation will also consist of looking at measurements of evidence left by the vehicles such as point of impact, final resting positions of each vehicle, skid marks, and gouge marks.
