Bicyclist, 34, Struck by Drunk Driver
COACHELLA (April 27th, 2019) A 34-year-old man was killed by a drunk driver while riding his bicycle early Sunday morning on Grapefruit Boulevard.
Coachella police officials were notified of the collision which occurred at roughly 2:15 a.m..
Authorities have determined that Hector Polanco, 32, had been behind the wheel of a pickup truck headed southbound before hitting the 34-year-old man who had been traveling northbound.
The victim, identified as Raul Gulliver, tragically suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene upon the arrival of paramedics.
Hector Polanco Arrested for DUI
Immediately following the collision, Coachella authorities arrested Polanco as he was determined to have been under the influence. Polanco is currently being jailed at the Indio Jail on $50,000 bail and faces charges which include vehicular manslaughter.

Authorities have arrested and will hold Hector Polanco fully responsible after being confirmed to have been under the influence while operating a vehicle. Although his bail was set at $50,000, Polanco faces serious criminal charges which will likely keep her jailed for an extensive duration of time.
