California Highway Patrol officials are investigating a deadly collision which left a woman fatally injured after being hit by a car last week on Tuesday, May 14th.

Authorities responded to the incident which occurred at precisely 8:26 p.m. at the address of 21400 Pacific Coast Highway.

Upon their arrival, CHP personnel located the victim, Megan Pierce, 32, with grave life-threatening injuries. She was quickly rushed to a local area hospital, where she sadly died of her injuries a short while after being admitted.

No details have been provided at this time in regards to the circumstances of this collision and what exactly happened leading up to the accident.

Authorities also have not yet provided any information on the driver involved and their current status as it remains unclear whether they stayed at or fled the scene.

This incident continues to be remain under investigation.


A forensic examination of both the vehicle and the pedestrian victim, as well as photos that were taken of the scene, will help investigators determine the cause of this accidnet. Other potential factors will be looked into as well including whether or not either the driver was under influence at the time of the accident? Was the driver driving recklessly or over the speed limit prior to impact? What were the road conditions and how was the lighting in the vicinity of where the accident occurred? Each one of these factors will be assessed allowing police officials to draw up a final conclusion.

While liability is currently under investigation, the the family members of Megan Pierce may be entitled to a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims are entitled to compensation for funeral expenses, pain and suffering, and loss of companionship.
