MOUNTAIN VIEW (April 16, 2019) – Mary Ellen Cabanski Evers has been identified as the woman struck and killed by a vehicle in Mountain View on Saturday night, April 13th.
First responders arrived at the intersection of El Camino Real and Palo Alto Avenue at approximately 8:20 p.m. and found Evers, 59, unconscious in the road. She was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.
The driver of the vehicle in the crash, an adult female, remained at the scene and cooperated with police.
Evers was a resident of Mountain View.
Authorities are still investigating the incident to determine liability. Anyone with information is urged to call Sergeant Bryan Albarillo at 650-903-6344. In most instances, pedestrians possess the right-of-way when crossing an intersection or a street regardless of they are in a marked crosswalk. It is always a driver’s duty to yield to any pedestrian; however, pedestrians must always take extra caution and never assume that a motorist will stop. It is likely that some liability will be assigned to the driver.
