Gregory Hartwell, 50, Victim in Hit-and-Run
RICHMOND (April 19th, 2019)
The identity has been released of the victim of a fatal hit-and-run accident early Friday morning, April 19, in Richmond.
Gregory Hartwell, 50, of Richmond, died at the scene after being struck by a pickup truck traveling eastbound at about 12:35 a.m.
Hartwell was crossing 21st Street at Barrett Avenue when he was struck. He was tragically pronounced dead at the scene upon the arrival of emergency personnel.
Richmond officials confirmed the driver of the pickup truck failed to stop before quickly leaving the scene
Police continue to investigate and have yet to announce any further details as it appears the suspect is still at-large.

Authorities will hold the suspect responsible for fleeing the scene of the collision and failing to render any aid to the victim. Liability has been determined, therefore, the family members of Gregory Hartwell will have the right to pursue a wrongful death lawsuit against the defendant.
