Street Racing Crash Results in Fatality
SUN VALLEY, CALIFORNIA (April 14th, 2019)
Police are seeking a hit-and-run driver in a crash in Sun Valley on Friday that left two people dead.
Police are searching for the driver of a dark-colored Dodge Charger that was driving recklessly and was racing with a 2015 Dodge Charger east on San Fernando Road in Sun Valley about 7:10 p.m.
The dark-colored Charger collided with the West’s blue 1998 Toyota Corolla, which was turning left onto Lankershim Boulevard.
Sun Valley Couple Victims in Hit-and-Run Collision
Olivia Enriquez West, 59, a Sun Valley resident, and her husband of 25 years, Leland West, both occupants in the Toyota, were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The male driver of the dark Dodge, a male, fled the scene and remains on the run.
The driver of the white Dodge, a 25-year-old female, and her two passengers were transported to the hospital.
The driver and a female passenger remained hospitalized. A male passenger was released after being treated for minor injuries.
No additional details have been provided at this time.
Authorities have arrested and will hold both the hit-and-run driver and the driver of the white Dodge responsible after street racing prior to the collision. Liability has been determined therefore the family members of Leland and Olivia West will have the right to pursue a wrongful death lawsuit.
