Man, 34, Seriously Injured by Hit-and-Run DUI Driver
PORTERVILLE, CA (April 12, 2019)
A Porterville man standing by his parked truck lost both his legs when an alleged drunk driver ran a stop sign and struck him.
Geronimo Gonzalez, 34, was standing alongside his truck on Monday, April 8, when a BMW driven by Mohamed Mohamed, 22, ran the stop sign and came speeding down the private dirt road in Porterville.
According to reports, Gonzalez’s legs were tragically severed in the crash. He was airlifted to a Fresno hospital.
Mohamed Mohamed Arrested for DUI and Hit-and-Run
Mohamed fled the scene. California Highway Patrol found him hiding at his nearby home. Investigators say alcohol was a likely factor in the crash.
Mohamed’s speeding car was captured on a security video moments before the crash. He was charged in March with DUI in Kern County, and has received four traffic tickets in Tulare County since 2017.
