Texas Man, 31, Struck by DUI Driver
HOLLYWOOD (April 13th, 2019)
A 26-year-old Utah man faces a murder charge after allegedly hitting a scooter rider in Hollywood just before 3 a.m. on Saturday, April 13.
Jared Walter Anderson faces a flurry of charges, including one count of murder, vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and gross negligence manslaughter while intoxicated, according to authorities. Police say Anderson drove his pickup into Evan Dyer Faram, 31, of Dallas, as Faram was riding an electronic scooter in a marked crosswalk at Sunset Boulevard and Vine Street.
Faram later died at a local hospital.
According to police, Anderson has a previous conviction for DUI in Utah in 2014.

In this case, he was driving his pickup at 2:55 a.m. and failed to yield to oncoming traffic, striking Faram. Authorities say the victim was run over as Anderson tried to evade police. Anderson drove against traffic while fleeing before finally crashing the pickup in a residential area, where he was arrested.
He was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, April 16. Anderson faces 11 years plus 15 years to life in prison if convicted.
Bail has been set at $2 million.
