GLEN ELLEN, Calif. (June 27, 2019) – Davis Bjornstrom, 60, was seriously injured in an accident on London Ranch Road when he was hit by a pickup truck while riding his Trek bicycle in Glen Ellen on Friday, June 21st.
The crash took place at approximately 4:50 p.m. at the intersection of London Ranch Road and Chauvet Road.
Glen Ellen resident Thomas Decker, 54, had been westbound on London Ranch Road in a 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 when, for an unknown reason, he collided with Bjornstrom.
Paramedics arrived to the scene and transported Bjornstrom by ambulance to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Santa Rosa. His condition at this time is unknown.
BICYCLE V. AUTO CRASH INVESTIGATION
Police are investigating the crash to determine the facts that led up to collision.
A forensic examination of both the pickup truck and the bicycle, as well as photos that were taken of the scene, will help investigators determine which party ultimately caused the accident. Other potential factors will be looked into as well including whether either of the parties involved were impaired at the time of the accident? Was the driver driving recklessly or over the speed limit prior to impact? What were the road conditions and how was the lighting in the vicinity of where the accident occurred? Each of these factors will be assessed allowing police officials to draw up a final conclusion.
