MADERA, California (May 15, 2019) – One man was killed and two others were seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 99 on Sunday, May 12th.
The California Highway Patrol reports that a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu was headed north on Highway 99 near the State Route 152 interchange at approximately 6:20 a.m. when the driver, Clinton Jordan, 19, of Stockton, lost control as he attempted to merge onto westbound SR 152.
The Malibu struck a cement barrier and metal guardrail, becoming airborne and overturning several times, the CHP said. All three occupants were thrown from the car.
The front seat passenger, a 25-year-old Stockton man, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. A 21-year-old Stockton man sitting in the back was taken to Community Regional Medical Center with major injuries. Police have not released the men’s identities.
Jordan was taken to Community Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries, the CHP said.
Authorities will conduct a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the crash. They will also look into whether a third party is responsible or if there was a malfunction or mechanical error.
