Andrew McClain Killed in Long Beach Pedestrian Accident on 710 Freeway

LONG BEACH (February 27, 2019) – A 43-year-old man died after being struck by a vehicle on the Interstate 710 Freeway early Sunday, according to Press-Telegram.

The fatality has been identified by the coroner’s office as Andrew Francis McClain.

On February 24, Sunday, the victim was reportedly seen walking in the northbound lanes of the freeway just south of Anaheim Street. Then at approximately 12:30 a.m., an allegedly drunk motorist behind the wheel of a Toyota Prius drove into the area and accidentally struck the pedestrian.

Responding paramedics sadly pronounced McClain dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the driver who hit the victim apparently stopped and talked to the authorities. A short time later, the man was arrested on suspicion of DUI. The identity of the suspect was not immediately known.

Further investigation on the case is underway.
