Alma and Angel Vasquez Identified as Fatal Victims
OAKLAND, CA. (April 13, 2019)
A mother and her 6-year-old son were killed by a hit-and-run driver as they crossed Foothill Boulevard at the corner of 25th Avenue just after 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 13.
Rasenoch Allen, 27, was driving a black Mercedes when he struck Alma Vasquez, her 6-year-old son, Angel, and uncle Jeymi Garcia, who were in the crosswalk.
The aftermath of the crash tragically left Alma Vasquez and Angel Vasquez with fatal injuries. They were sadly pronounced at the scene.
Jeymi Garcia Injured and Hospitalized
Meanwhile, Jeymi Garcia suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.
Rasenoch Allen Arrested
Following the collision, Allen left the scene. He was found and arrested after an intense manhunt.
According to a local news source, neighbors said cars often speed on that stretch of road and the city has been petitioned in the past to install traffic lights.
Oakland Hit-and-Run Crash Investigation
Authorities have arrested and will hold Rasenoch Allen fully responsible after being confirmed to have been under the influence and fleeing the scene of the crash. Liability has been determined therefore the family members of Alma and Angel Vasquez will have the right to pursue a wrongful death lawsuit while Jeymi Garcia will be subject to a personal injury claim.
