Deadly Solo Vehicle Crash on Bohan Dillon Road
FORT ROSS, SONOMA COUNTY (April 5, 2019)
After more than 12 hours alone in rural Sonoma County, a woman seriously injured in a car crash was finally rescued after she crawled up a ravine and was spotted by a motorist.
The unidentified woman, who is in her 30s, was a passenger in a vehicle that veered off of Bohan Dillon and crashed in wet and foggy conditions at about 9 p.m. on Friday.
The 30-year-old male driving the car sadly did not survive the collision as he was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.
Woman Airlifted from Scene to Hospital
Meanwhile, the woman who is in her 30s suffered a broken leg for which she had surgery on Saturday afternoon.
The woman was helped by a passerby at about 11 a.m. when she crawled up the gorge before being airlifted to the hospital.
It is unclear what caused the crash as California Highway Patrol is currently investigating the incident.
Fatal Collision Investigation
Following any traffic accident, investigators conduct a full examination of what happened looking into possible factors. Speed, possible mechanical issues with the vehicle, and whether the driver was distracted or impeded by something in the middle of the road are assessed.
