OAKLAND (April 7, 2019) – Two people suffered major injuries in a bizarre three-vehicle crash on I-880 in Oakland early Sunday, April 7th.
The accidents began just before 5 a.m. at 98thAvenue when a car rear-ended a box truck that had rear-ended a Lexus. The Lexus was moving slowly because of a flat tire.
Five minutes after the first crash, a Ford Taurus with five occupants crashed into the stopped box truck. The driver of the Taurus and one of the passengers suffered major injuries. In all, six people were hospitalized.
Police are investigating the accidents. Three of four northbound lanes were blocked because of wreckage. All lanes were reopened by 8:30 a.m.
