Woman Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver

Stockton, CA- April 1, 2019

According to the Record Net, a deadly hit-and-run pedestrian versus auto collision left a woman with fatal injuries Friday afternoon at the 600 block of Church Street.

Stockton police officials were dispatched to the site of the collision at 1:35 p.m. adjacent to the Stockton homeless shelter.

Authorities have so far been able to determine that the driver of a black sedan had been maneuvering recklessly before hitting the woman and then losing control and veering off the road and into the homeless camp eventually coming to rest next to a fence.

Driver and Passenger Exit Hit-and-Run Vehicle, Allegedly Jump Into Different Car

According to the report, the driver and passenger both believed to have been women were inside the sedan allegedly exited the vehicle and hopped into another car.

Per the report, the unidentified woman sadly did not survive the collision and was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, another woman suffered an ankle injury after dodging the vehicle to remove herself from the path of the vehicle at the last second. She declined to state her name but stated that “I just tried to move quickly and save my life.”

At this time, the investigation is ongoing as no arrests have been made. Updates will be provided pending the disclosure of new information.

While authorities will hold the hit-and-run suspect responsible for this tragedy once located and detained, the family of the woman will have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim against the defendant once located and detained.
