70-Year-Old Bicyclist Killed by Drunk Driver
RIVERBANK (April 4th, 2019)
Jack Douglas Higgs, a 70-year-old Modesto resident, has been identified as the bicyclist struck by a suspected drunk driver in Riverbank on Thursday.
Oakdale resident Jordan Pomares-Boeh, 24, was arrested following the incident on Claus Road.
Higgs was riding his bike on the east side of Claus Road near California Street at 11:30 p.m. when Pomares-Boeh swerved right and struck him.
Pomares-Boeh faces charges which include gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence. He remains jailed at Stanislaus County Jail.
DUI Collision Investigation
While authorities will hold the DUI suspect responsible for this tragedy, the family of Jack Higgs will be subject to a wrongful death claim against the DUI suspect. Wrongful death family members are subject to compensation for funeral costs and loss of companionship.
