SALINAS (April 4, 2019) – The Alisal High School community is mourning the loss of senior, Ivan Sepulveda, who died this weekend after crashing his vehicle into a utility pole.
Sepulveda’s friends and classmates visited the scene of the crash on Alisal Road on Wednesday and are planning a candlelight vigil for him on Wednesday night at Monte Bella Community Park.
Sepulveda died just after midnight on March 30th after crashing his 2011 Lexus into a utility pole shortly after being directed to pull over by Monterey County Sheriff’s deputy.
The deputy flashed his lights instructing Sepulveda to pull over near Williamson and Bardin Road. Sepulveda lost control of his vehicle shorty after, and he hit a utility pole, which ejected him from the vehicle.
Sepulveda was rushed to Natividad Medical Center where he later died.
One other person, a 17-year-old boy, was in the car with Sepulveda and suffered minor to moderate injuries.
