WOODLAND HILLS (April 4, 2019) – A 51-year-old man died after in a violent crash in Woodland Hills at the intersection of Ventura Boulevard and Winnetka Avenue.
Police report the crash was caused by a reckless teenage driver who was arrested for suspicion of murder at the scene. They suspect he may have been involved in a street race prior to the crash.
Edgar Rolando Pinedo, of Panorama City, has been identified as the victim that died in the collision.
At-Fault Driver Arrested
The 17-year-old-boy suspect, driving a Mercedes-Benz C300, and a passenger in his car were both hospitalized after the crash. Pinedo was driving his Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck at about 10 p.m. when the Mercedes ran a red light and smashed into the driver side of Pinedo’s truck.
The driver of the Mercedes had been driving erratically for several blocks before hitting Pinedo. After ramming Pinedo’s Tacoma, the Mercedes then crashed into two other SUVs, leaving one driver with minor injuries.
The suspect’s identity has not been released by police due to his age.
