FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA (April 3, 2019)
A deadly five-vehicle crash that occurred just before 11:00 P.M. on Saturday night, March 30, 2019 ended with the arrest of a 24-year-old Tustin man on suspicion of DUI.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a stalled Honda Odyssey minivan occupied by a family of five was pulled over in the carpool lane of 405 Freeway northbound near Euclid Street when it was struck from behind by a black Toyota Tacoma driven by the suspect, which in turn caused a second pickup truck, a silver Toyota Tacoma, to crash into him.
Two other vehicles were also involved in the crash but only sustained minor damage.
One of the minivan’s occupants, a 13-year-old boy, died from injuries sustained in the crash. Multiple other people who were also injured were transported by paramedics to local hospitals for treatment, including the five other occupants in the minivan.
