It happened around 9 p.m. Friday, April 5th, on Novato Boulevard. The pickup was headed west of Stafford Lake when it struck the tree. Authorities revealed in their initial investigation that they believe speed was a factor in the crash.

Investigation Ongoing

The spate of road deaths in rural Marin began on March 23rd when Brad De La Garza, 55, of San Rafael, died following an accident on Ridgecrest Boulevard in Mount Tamalpais State Park. Just a day before the latest crash, Trygve Walter Hansen, 53, died after his vehicle plunged down a steep hill in the park. His teenaged son survived the crash.

Police will conduct an investigate looking into the facts which may have caused the collision in an effort to determine liability, but this should not preclude an independent investigation by an attorney and/or expert witnesses for a comprehensive view of all contributing factors.
